Adhesive Lamination Capabilities

Many of the die-cut parts Marian manufactures require the lamination of an adhesive with two or more materials. The most common lamination is the addition of pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing to another substrate, like sponge, foam, rubber, or films.

It is important, even critical, to accomplish this lamination without entrapping air or contaminates between the two substrates. Marian is very experienced at adhesive laminating dissimilar materials for complex applications. Our adhesive laminating capabilities include:

  • Adhesive backing
  • Double and single-sided laminating
  • Multi-layer lamination
  • Dissimilar materials
  • Selective (zoned) adhesive lamination
  • PSA composites

Selective Adhesive Lamination

Selective adhesive lamination, also called zoned adhesive lamination, describes a die-cut part with only partial adhesive coverage of a selected pattern. This is achieved through a process of converting: laminating materials together, precisely die cutting those materials, and pulling away the unwanted adhesive material from the finished part.

Selective adhesive patterns are often required for filter and venting components but are also common in custom foam components. Many applications require filters and vents to act as barriers to dust, dirt, and moisture to protect the components within the product while allowing air and sound to pass. The precise zone of adhesive allows for secure bonding while also allowing the filter or mesh to function appropriately.
